About
Gary Braasch is an Oregon nature photographer who has documented natural history and environmental issues since the eruption of Mount St. Helens and first controversies over old growth forests.
His many assignments to photograph scientists in the field lead him to tackle the issue of climate change, beginning in the late 1990s. This mostly self-funded project took him to 22 nations and seven continents. The photos have been widely published, including in Time, Business Week, American Photo, GEO, Communication Arts, Discover and Nature.
The photographs in this display are from Gary’s new book Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World. Its expanded view includes how climate change affects cities, businesses and human livelihoods worldwide.
Gary is an Ansel Adams Award winner, a Nikon “Legend Behind the Lens,” and a founder of the International League of Conservation Photographers.
